Fight SMA for Faith and Cassandra
Donation protected
Hello Everyone,
Please meet my precious and adorable twin granddaughters Faith and Cassandra. As most people would imagine twin sisters share many things such as toys, clothes, an awesome 4 year old brother named Austin and twin bonding. Unfortunately these twin sisters share something no child should have, a debilitating genetic disorder called “SMA” (Spinal Muscular Atrophy ).
(Faith)
(Cassandra)
Walter and Sara (Our son and Daughter In law) we’re so excited to be pregnant with twins, unfortunately 6 months into their pregnancy they received devastating news that Faith had a congenital heart defect and that she would need critical heart surgery once born.
On December 7, 2016, Faith and Cassandra were born and as expected Faith had to have heart surgery at only 4 weeks old. Cassandra was able to go home from the hospital, but Faith needed a lot more recovery time from her surgery. She struggled to eat and was diagnosed with “Failure to thrive" and as a result required surgery to place a feeding tube.
Several months later Cassandra was also diagnosed with “Failure to thrive” but without much reasoning as to why she wasn’t meeting her milestones. After several visits to see specialist Cassandra was diagnosed with SMA Type 1. If Faith’s and Cassandra’s ongoing medical struggles weren’t enough Faith was eventually tested and sadly she was also diagnosed with severe SMA Type 1 and pulmonary failure.
Through everything my precious and courageous granddaughters never stopped smiling despite spending over 7+ months combined in hospitals since being born. Even today, as we write this Faith is in the PICU at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in critical condition and on a ventilator. She is in respiratory failure and her chance for her survival is a severe concern.
These parents need all the help they can get. Imagine purchasing your first home together only to lose it 1 year later due to missing numerous mortgage payments. Sara had to give up her career to care for her critical twin girls. They now barely survive on one income when Walter isn’t taking off work to sit beside his daughters in the ICU.
Please open your hearts and make any donation you can to help this family with Medical expenses, traveling costs, and utility bills. They basically need donations for everyday living so they can care for their precious children Austin, Cassandra, and Faith.
Update 6/17/2018:
Unfortunately with a broken heart I want to let everyone know that Faith Josephine Condi has passed away on 6/16/2018. I appreciate all of the help everyone gave to make this GoFundMe a positive light for the Condi family. If you can please continue to support them in this time of need they will appreciate it beyond words.
