Update----Update:
It's with a heavy heart to update that Mikey passed away Thursday morning, with his family by his side. His long 7 year battle with brain cancer ended. He never stopped fighting.
Mikey will live in our hearts forever....
Thank you for all your prayers and support.
As many of you know, Michael has been battling brain cancer for a long time now. Diagnosed at age 11, Mikey has been a fighter his whole life. Now at age 17, he has been through countless chemotherapies and trails. Despite Michael’s strong will to live, his strength and his health have declined.
At this point, Mikey cannot be left home alone. His parents are fully committed to his every need. Michael is their sole focus. Both are home with him around the clock, which has put a lot of financial strain on the family. We are trying to do all we can to help alleviate any stress possible for Mikey and his family. Any donation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your constant love and support.
To Friends & Neighbors,
At the young age of 11, Michael Komar Jr. was diagnosed with Medullobastoma, a form of brain cancer. He endured surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation in hopes of beating this tumor. Michael was in remission for about two years, but unfortunately, the cancer came back.
After another set of treatments, it did appear that the tumors were shrinking. But, during a recent hospital visit, the doctors explained that new cancer masses had started to grow. As you can imagine, this is heartbreaking news to everyone, especially to a now 16-year-old young man, who has never stopped fighting for his life.
The next step in Michael’s battle is trial drugs, and he is gearing up and getting ready to fight again. Michael’s information is currently being sent across the country to several different hospitals that offer clinical trials. When a spot opens in one of these trials, it can fill up very fast. Therefore, the family must be ready at a moment’s notice to pack up and leave everything at home, including their jobs.
For this reason, family and friends have started the “Fight Like Mike” fund. Michael’s family will be challenged with many unexpected expenses to say the least. We are trying to rid them of as much financial burden as possible, in hopes that they can continue to focus solely on beating Michael’s cancer.
Thank You in advance for your support & generosity.
