Our granddaughter was recently diagnosed with MPS-1 Hurler Syndrome severe. This is a rare, but devastating and incurable (terminal) genetic disease with a very long list of problems. She will have uncountable hurdles to overcome in her shortened life. The first will be enzyme therapy followed by a stem cell transplant that will allow her to start making the enzyme she doesn't have right now. The bulk of her treatment will be in Minnesota and we are hoping she gets accepted into the MPS Study. Her mom, Natalie will be taking next year off from her teaching position so they will be down to one income.
