Our beautiful and brilliant Anastasia Goerl was recently diagnosed with stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer (adenocarcinoma of the lung). This year has truly been a year of never-ending bad news.
Annie graduated from Shippensburg university in 2017 where she majored in biology and played varsity volleyball. She is 25 years young and is currently completing her fourth and final year of optometry school which entails gaining a year of clinical experience working at various practices and passing three national board examinations before becoming a licensed Doctor of Optometry. As if the stress of this final year of school wasn’t already enough, Annie must now also deal with receiving cancer treatments and managing all of the potential side effects of those treatments. Unfortunately, this situation is all too familiar for Annie, as her father passed away from lung cancer while she was in high school. Supporting those suffering from lung cancer is now even closer to our hearts than before.
All donations will be put towards Annie’s medical expenses. Any donation will make a difference and is greatly appreciated.
To help raise awareness of this fundraiser, we will be hosting a virtual “Fight like a Goerl” 5K run/walk/ swim/ dance/ anything that gets you movin’ and your lungs pumpin’! To participate, post a picture of you doing something that brings you joy and fills your lungs on November 1st (or any day during lung cancer awareness month) with the hashtag #FightLikeAGoerl.
