Friends, Family, and All who know John Donohue......Would you like to Help John with his "Biggest Fight against Cancer"?
For those who know John Donohue, he has personally helped and mentored hundreds of people in all industries, but with an intense focus in the medical industry. He's gracefully given his time to others, provided directions to all who needed him, and has been readily available to family and friends who needed a helping hand, a bit of direction, a pat on the back, or words of encouragement or support.
John has personally provided opportunities to hundreds who needed a better job, a better life, and a career path to success.
Now John needs our help!
After 24 years of battling cancer, with his first diagnosis in 2000 at the young age of 32, John continues his fight and is now facing his fourth treatment for a newly diagnosed cancer.
John was approved and received a successful new treatment July 24, 2023, called CAR-T but his celebration was extremely brief when he was diagnosed seven months later with Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS), which is an early gateway cancer to Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). MDS is commonly caused by heavy doses of Chemotherapy and Radiation, over many years of treatment.
John has been through a lot of treatments, and he's fought like a warrior to live as he continues his battle against cancer. His treatments have included heavy doses of Methotrexate during his 2000 diagnosis, (a deadly chemo that's only now used in minimal doses but not as standard of care for cancer due to patients dying from the side effect of this chemo), an Autonomous Stem Cell Transplant and Radiation in 2015/2016, and the CAR-T Treatment in 2023.
But John continues to fight for his life and is hoping to be able to receive treatments at the world's top facility for MDS research, which is
MD Anderson in Houston. This hospital is the leader in MDS treatments and is setting the standard for treatments throughout the United States.
Just recently as John connected with and was pushing for treatments at MD Anderson , he realized that unfortunately the hospital is not in his insurance network so all treatments, medications, etc., will be an out-of-pocket expense. In summary, John must pay cash for the treatments, and this is more than anyone could imagine but it's a reality for John and his family.
Below are several links for those who may be interested in learning more about Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) and Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).
If you feel inclined to donate to help John secure and receive the much-needed treatments at MD Anderson, please consider donating to this very important cause.
Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML) encompass a spectrum of diseases characterized by an overproduction of immature blood cells, resulting in a lack of healthy, mature blood cells in patients.
Unfortunately, the majority of patients with these diseases are not cured with currently available therapies, so MD Anderson’s MDS and AML Moon Shot™ team has committed to developing new treatment options. The effort is part of MD Anderson’s Moon Shots Program™ , a collaborative effort to accelerate the development of scientific discoveries into clinical advances that save patients’ lives.
Please donate on behalf of John Donohue.
Thank you.
