Knowing what our dear Jessica has triumphed over...and what we face as parents on a daily basis... many have said to us over the years that we are "resilient".
Christmas season, we share stories of old with Jess. She was a fan of characters larger than life – but only from a safe distance! She never wanted to get too close to characters at Disneyland, the Lion Mascot at LMU basketball games or even Santa Claus! But mom and dad, like all parents, wanted a picture with Santa. Above, she is all smiles hanging with her girlfriend Cooper. Even when the Big Guy photobombed them. What is not seen, however, is Jess sensed a presence right after the shot was taken, looked behind her and bolted. She set a land speed record in her escape. We laugh and cry at the memory in a life that has been anything but ordinary. The truth is, we hold many memories dearly. Don’t you?
Another precious part of our Jessica’s life are all of the people who have expressed love for Jess in so many ways. A Christmas tradition is Jessica’s decorated Christmas Tree. Our Christmas Tree Angel Anna has decorated trees for Jessica for 16 years Purple is always prominent!
Without fail, Jessica blesses us every day and we cherish each moment with her.
We know these current times have been challenging and difficult for many. For those of you hurting, our hearts go out to you. In the midst of all this, we are eternally grateful Jessica has overcome a number of hospitalizations and medical challenges. During this year, while Jessica has not had COVID. What a blessing! There have been 3 hospitalizations during the pandemic and many clinic visits and outpatient procedures. The comings and goings of all these admissions and clinic have been very challenging. And Jessica has demonstrating resilience!
Because of people like you who've been part of Jessie's team throughout these years, we do keep going. Although we may not see you often, please know we think of you and talk with Jessie about all the friends who uplift us. And you are included in her prayers at night.
Your love and support have kept us from becoming numb...and able to get up again and again after we fall. Thank you.
