Fight for Elley's Sight

Elley (Elsie Agoda) has been suffering from migraine headaches and light sensitivity for months all while being a devoted mother of two, wife & perusing her career in corporate America. She often over looked these issues as normal life and work stress. Less than a week after celebrating her 29th birthday she had a routine eye exam with Dr. Susan Kessler (Ophthalmologist) she then discovered that Elley has a Retinal Detachment. Dr. Kessler referred Elley to Retina Care Consultants to Dr. Thomas John Federici (Retinal Specialist) who confirmed the diagnose with and ultrasound and recommended an Emergency Vitrectomy. After her consult Elley found the courage to go through with the surgery to avoid losing all vision in the affected eye. Due to the severity of Elley's retinal detachment Dr. Federici was not able to complete the procedure and had to abort mid-surgery! He found her retina was completely detached with multiple tears. The doctor discovered bleeding behind the retina, Elley also began to develop a cataracts during the procedure. Although unfortunate Dr. Federici in good faith could not continue for risk of making Elley blind for life. Dr Federici believes her eye can be SAVED by NYU Langone Eye Center. A state of the art treatment center that has the latest in advancements for her condition. The doctor warned that he was able to relieve some of the pressure behind Elley's eye and partially reattached a small portion of her retina but this is temporary. Due to the inclement nature of the detachment we must act fast to save her eye or risk complete blindness in the eye. Although Dr. Federici was unsuccessful Elley is still responsible for the current hospital bill and future bills, each procedure estimated to cost well over $10,000.
