Hello Family & Friends,
I’m a young, 22-year old woman named Brandi Pickard, from the biblically-termed town of Eden, North Carolina. I love to have a good time, but I also know what it takes to work hard. On May 6, 2016, after four long years, I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology - Sports Medicine. Since then, I have worked as a Nursing Technician at the Women’s Hospital in Greensboro, NC. My ultimate dream is to become a nurse in the family medicine field.
In the past few months, what used to be a relatively healthy body became a sick one. I have gone from having back and chest pain, to multiple headaches, to having issues in the majority of my organs, to needing a MRI and CT scan done, having a lymph node taken out of my chest to be evaluated, to having my white blood count shoot up to 40,000 with no sign of infection, chemotherapy, and much more. Initially, I was told by doctors that I had pneumonia. As it turns out, I have both Langerhan cell histiocytosis, a rare disease; as well as Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which is cancer in the lymph system.
Both diseases are treatable, and I WILL overcome and beat this as long as I have God on my team. For now, I will be on a regime composed of a 4-medicine, higher dose chemo that I will be receiving once every 15 days for about 4-6 months. Because of my sickness, I have been in and out of work for months, and haven’t been back since September. My loving and sacrificial parents have been putting their needs on the backburner to help me, their only child, with financial responsibilities. My goal right now is $1,500. Your donations will go towards living expenses, medical bills, and etc. If donations just so happen to surpass my goal, I would be at awe with all of your support. Thank you and please continue to lift me up in prayer. Help me get back to Eden -- back to a state of paradise.
Love,
Brandi
