My name is Christine, and me and my friend Saida are asking for help for our friend Alma, one of the most loyal, hardworking, and loving people I’ve ever known. Alma came to the United States legally, seeking asylum after escaping the danger, violence, and desperation that have overwhelmed Venezuela. She came here with hope in her heart — hope for safety, hope for peace, and hope for a future for her and her family.
She did everything right.
She followed every rule.
She obtained her work permit and worked tirelessly every single day to build a life here.
And then, everything was ripped away.
Immigration officers suddenly came for Alma. They did nothing wrong — yet to them, it felt like they were being hunted down. Their peaceful life was shattered in moments.
Alma was taken to the new detention center in Michigan, operated by a private company. She is now locked away alone, separated from her family, with no meaningful access to a lawyer to defend her or to fight for her release.
She is frightened.
No mother deserves this.
No family deserves to be torn apart after doing everything the right way.
We are trying desperately to raise the money needed for an immigration attorney who can fight for Alma’s freedom, protect their asylum case, and help reunite this broken family. The legal fees and bond costs are overwhelming, and Alma’s family simply cannot afford them on their own.
This fundraiser is their only hope.
Every single donation — even the smallest amount. If you cannot donate, please share this story. Your compassion truly can change the outcome for a family that came here only for safety and found heartbreak instead.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping us fight for Alma’s freedom and her family’s future.
