From Alicia:

Thank you so much for the continued support and prayers. I believe that they truly are the backbone to moments like these.

My journey... well, I was originally diagnosed with rectal cancer when I was 28 years old. After numerous surgeries and plenty of scans, I came through on the other side and was declared an official survivor in 2015. 2015 turned out to be very good year for me. On top of being an official survivor, later that year I married my best friend and my family grew from a small, but mighty three to a strong and solid seven. :)

Fast forward to 2018; in December, I went to the doctor about significant pain in my low back/hip area. A CT scan revealed destructive lesions on my sacrum which ended up being malignant. I was diagnosed with recurrent colorectal cancer with metastasis to the bone. A cancer diagnosis never seems to fail in knocking the wind out of you, but when they add in "non-curative" it really makes everything stand still for a bit. Through prayers and faith, we embarked on the journey set before us.

In January, I completed radiation therapy and had a port placed to begin chemotherapy. Radiation therapy had some side effects and it's been a tough month. I have a rare genetic mutation BRAF-V600E which makes my prognosis a bit bleaker. That being said, I am remaining hopeful and optimistic.

I have so much to fight for and so much more I want to be a part of. Our children range in age from 10 to 21. The 10 and the 12-year-olds were by my side when I faced this monstrous disease in 2010 and they were my reasons to fight. Now, I not only have three more reasons to fight, but also amazing angels all around me who have been lifting me up in prayers, sending thoughtful cards/messages, and even bringing dinner to our family. I cannot begin to express how grateful I am to everyone who has reached out to me and my family during this time.

A simple thank you falls short in expressing how truly appreciative I am. I hope to one day repay the favors that have been bestowed upon me. I begin chemotherapy today, February 7th, and I am not sure what to expect from it, but I am taking it one step at a time and praying for a miracle along the way.

Sendero Therapies has graciously pledged to match any donation made by employees. We are only sharing the link with other therapists for a number of days before beginning to spread the word further. Thanks so much for all of your constant support and prayers.
