Jason’s Obituary

Jason Matthew Harbert
April 24, 1985 – December 23, 2024

Jason Matthew Harbert passed away at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Boise, Idaho, on December 23, 2024, at 1:48 AM. He was surrounded by those that loved him as they cried, cracked jokes, and held him and each other. Jason was born on April 24, 1985, at St. Rose Hospital in Hayward, California to LeLaine Haven and Dannie Lee Harbert Jr. Their second child, and their first boy, he was a dream come true for them.

As a child, Jason was sweet and mischievous, always lighting up a room with his smile and adorable dimples. He grew up running around with his sister, Sarah-Marie, being silly and loving to climb trees and explore nature. Later he doted on his brother Josh, being so kind and gentle, and always making his little brother laugh. When he was in high school his youngest brother, Colton, was born and he was equally obsessed with his adorable baby brother.

After high school, he joined the Army National Guard and served his country honorably for a year in Iraq. Upon returning home, Jason earned a degree in auto body repair and pursued his passion for working with his hands. Throughout his life he enjoyed working on vehicles, a hobby passed down from his dad, as well as metal working which he learned in school. Jason also loved dirt biking as a kid with his step brother Nolan, and later in life with his dad, brother Colton, and brother-in-law, Justin. Another of his favorite things was to cook, loving to explore new recipes and show his love through food.

In 2020, Jason moved to Garden Valley, Idaho, to be closer to his sister and her family. He loved snuggling his baby nieces, Lorelai and Leone, and watching them grow. They adored their uncle so much that they often sought him for comfort.

Not long after he met Ashley and started a life with her and her daughters, Makahla, Alana, and Kheara. Jason cherished Ashley and embraced her girls as the daughters of his heart, forming a loving family. He enjoyed traveling with them, and loved watching the girls’ faces as they took boat rides, explored caves, and ran on beaches.

Jason is also survived by his mother LeLaine, sister Sarah-Marie, brothers Colton and Josh, and his nieces Lorelai and Leone. His extended family and friends will also cherish his memory and always remember his kindness, humor, and devotion to those he loved.

Jason’s family would like to thank the medical team and everyone who supported him throughout his illness.

Though there are so many wonderful memories to lean on, it will still be difficult learning to live without him. A color all his own, extremely comforting and beautiful, has gone out from the world. He will be deeply missed and loved and cherished forever.
