Sammy’s Battle vs. Lung Cancer
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and compassionate strangers,
My name is Lisa and I come to you today with a heavy heart and a plea for your support. My brother-in-law, Sammy, has been waging a courageous battle against cancer since July 2022. His journey has been filled with unforeseen challenges and setbacks, but his unwavering spirit and faith continue to inspire us all.
Sammy's Journey So Far:
Sammy's fight against cancer began with a diagnosis of Prostate cancer in July 2022. He underwent radiation treatment in the fall, hoping to conquer the disease that threatened his well-being. However, his strength and resilience were tested yet again when, in April of this year, he started experiencing additional symptoms and was diagnosed with a form of Small Cell Lung Cancer called Neuro Endocrine Carcinoma.
To everyone's dismay, the doctors discovered six tumors in Sammy's brain. On May 1st, he underwent a risky surgery to remove the largest tumor, which was successful. However, the remaining tumors are inoperable. To combat them, Sammy endured ten grueling days of radiation treatment, hoping to shrink and control their growth. Unfortunately, recent tests revealed the presence of more tumors in his abdomen, neck, and esophagus, which require aggressive chemotherapy.

Current Challenges:
Sammy began his first round of chemotherapy two weeks ago, but an unexpected setback occurred. His low platelet and white blood cell count landed him back in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Boone where he received two rounds of platelet transfusions. His counts have gone back up and he was transported in the middle of the night back to Wake Forest. Although he fights with all his might, the road ahead remains arduous and filled with uncertainty. Sammy's next round of chemotherapy is imminent, and he and his wife, my sister, Cary, find themselves confined to the hospital for an undetermined period.

The Financial Strain:
In addition to the physical and emotional toll, Sammy and Cary face overwhelming financial challenges. Both Sammy and Cary are entrepreneurs and self-employed and they have dedicated every ounce of their energy to battling this vicious disease. However, the relentless bills continue to mount, making it increasingly difficult for them to focus on Sammy's well-being and recovery.

Our Call to Action:
Today, we humbly ask for your support and generosity. Sammy's unwavering fighting spirit and his wife's unyielding dedication deserve a fighting chance, free from the burden of financial stress. Over the next days, weeks, and months ahead they will need to be at countless doctor appointments, hospital stays, and possibly surgeries. As you can imagine the normal costs of everyday living...such as a mortgage, food, gas, car, etc… and the medical costs can be astronomical. Together, we can help alleviate their worries and ensure that their focus remains on Sammy's treatment and healing.
Your Donation Matters:
Your contribution will directly assist Sammy and Cary in covering medical expenses, including ongoing treatments, hospital stays, chemotherapy sessions, and the numerous tests that lie ahead. It will provide them with the financial stability they desperately need, allowing them to concentrate solely on Sammy's recovery.
Sammy's journey is far from over, but with your support and prayers, we can make a significant difference in his fight against cancer. Let's rally together, uplift his spirits, and remind him that he is not alone in this battle. Every donation, whether big or small, is a step closer to lightening their burden and helping Sammy regain his health.
Thank you for your kind hearts, generosity, and for standing by Sammy's side during this challenging time. He a one of a kind person with a heart of gold and together, we can bring him hope and healing.
