Fight against period poverty in Lebanon
Donation protected
Hi everybody. I am fundraising to fight against period poverty in Lebanon.
Imagine having to choose between buying sanitary pads for menstruation and providing milk for your child.
Unfortunately, for Lebanese women, following the August 2020 Beirut port explosion, the COVID-19 pandemic and the worsening economic crisis, period poverty has become an inevitable catastrophe. The cost of menstrual products has seen a 500% increase, and women across Lebanon have been forced to resort to unhealthy and even dangerous methods to deal with their periods. Many are using newspapers, old cloth, cutting the diapers of their child in half, or tissue paper, leading to health and gynecological complications.
While the Lebanese government has directed its efforts towards subsidizing other everyday items like
men’s razors and instant coffee, it has failed to pay attention to the devastating state it has left Lebanese
women in.
I am proud to be collaborating with AidLebanon, an NGO that supports vulnerable and underprivileged households in Lebanon, and Juniper, a menstrual cup provider, to fight period poverty in Lebanon.
Your contribution to this cause will be helping hundreds of women to receive access to menstrual cups — a safe, hygienic and sustainable menstrual product. This is a solution that could last years
and save women from the humiliating situation of having to choose between their health and other
household essentials.
