Hello Everyone! My name is Mariyah Ridley & I’m a 21 year old smart, intelligent, kind, caring, spontaneous young woman. Let’s get into why your all reading this........... As some of you may know I’ve been battling CML for a little over a year now. For those of you new to my story, CML stands for Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. It is a cancer within my blood and has pretty much taken over my life this past year. I was diagnosed August of 2018 after accidentally eating an expired coffee cake which led to me going to see a doctor and getting blood work done. If it wasn’t for me eating that coffee cake, I would have never known what my body was going through & would have eventually resulted in me being very ill & passing. Turns out my white blood count was sky high and that led to more test. Eventually I wound up being admitted to a hospital in Florida at the time. Which was over 1000 miles from my immediate family. Luckily I had my beautiful fiancé by my side every step of the way. I ended up in the hospital for about a week and was let go with the diagnosis of Cml. From that point on I had to start a chemotherapy drug called Sprycel that still till this day I have to take every night before bed. If I don’t take the pill, it could cause further complications with my health & possibly result in death. For a 21 year old that a lot for me to take in still. Typically older individuals from the ages 50-60 get diagnosed with Cml. It’s not so common for people my age and or younger to get diagnosed but it’s seems like I’m not the only one going through this alone. After being diagnosed, my fiancé and I moved back to NewYork to be closer to my family. Since being here things have gotten a little better. I’ve been feeling a lot better and working more than I was in Florida. I’ve been taking care of myself and living on my own with my fiancé. It seemed as if things were going to be fine and that nothing was going to stop me. Until I got a call from my doctor a week ago telling me that the medication I’ve been taking for a year now, that has been working perfectly fine and keeping me healthy, has suddenly stopped working. As of today September 16th 2019 I am now unemployed due to my health. My doctor called me with bad news after my yearly bone marrow biopsy, and told me to come in and see him because he’d rather speak with me in person. Lucky I was off the day he called me and I went in to see him. He always tells me that if he doesn’t call me that everything is okay, so when I heard his voice and he said his name, I knew something was up. I went in and he proceeded to tell me that due to my pill not working as it should that he would be sending me to NYC to speak with a specialist. He scheduled my appointment with the specialist the next day after me seeing him so it made me worry even more. I took the next day off because i figured my health was way more important then working that day. As I waited for the doctor to come in and see me, he tells me that I would need to start chemo immediately and that I would have to begin a stronger pill to fight off the leukemia in my body. He says I will have to be treated aggressively and that I would be admitted to the hospital on the 19th of September to begin aggressive treatment. Moral of the story, my life is about to change completely and I will not be able to work and provide for myself anymore. If you know me, you know I take real good care of myself and you’ll know that I have a home and a car and other bills that are going to continue to have to be paid every month. Including rent, car payment, car insurance, phone, groceries and etc. My fiancé is stubborn and is trying to take on my responsibilities which I don’t think is fair to her! I told her to let all my stuff go and to sell what she needs to of mine to get the money she needs to pay my bills. I honestly could care less about anything at this point because it’s materialistic things that I could get right back when things get better. BUT SHE REFUSES TO LET ANY OF MY THINGS GO. I’m not asking for much. But anything at this point helps. Ill Be Out Of Work Until I Can Eventually Fight This All Off which could take a year or more. My Fiancé and family will have to travel 2 and a half hours to Manhatten to visit me in the hospital which could be a financial burden on them also! If your unable to help financially, all I ask is that you pray for me and share this post so that it may get into the hands of more people. Every dollar counts. It’s hard for me to even post this because I’d much rather work and not have to ask people for anything they’ve worked hard for, but this is my only option at the moment! Just know I’m not giving up, & I’m not going to let this leukemia get the best of me! I will continue to be positive and to encourage people as much as I can. I’ll always keep my faith and always remain strong! I will keep everyone posted on how I’m doing. & I will be continuing to upload updates on my YouTube channel so you guys can have a clearly picture of what I’ll be going through in the future! Thankyou for reading my short book lol & Thankyou in advance for those who have prayed for my well being and those who have helped me financially! Your all truly a blessing and I’m beyond grate for everything that has happened and that is to come! Knuckle Up & Grind ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Yours Truly..... Mariyah Lynn Ridley
