Hi, my name is Dogu and I am 37 years old and I have been fighting parathyroid cancer since 2013.
Over the years, I have undergone 7 major surgeries and 2 rounds of radiotherapy, yet the cancer continues to return. Parathyroid cancer is extremely rare, affecting only 3–6 people per 10 million each year, which makes long-term management especially complex.
The situation has now become critical. The main tumor has started to compress the brachiocephalic vein, a major vein responsible for draining blood from the brain, head and upper body back to the heart. This makes timely and expert evaluation especially urgent.
To explore the best possible next steps, I need to travel to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas, one of the world’s leading cancer centers with extensive experience in rare and complex cancers.
A specialized treatment is considered highly likely because my tumor carries a BRCA2 mutation, a genetic alteration also commonly seen in breast cancer, for which targeted therapies already exist. An expert multidisciplinary team will evaluate whether these therapies are suitable in my case.
The diagnostic tests, evaluations, and expert consultations will cost approximately €16,000. Including travel and accommodation, the total cost is estimated at around €20,000. If a suitable specialized treatment is identified, the treatment itself will be covered by my health insurance, as no equivalent specialized option is currently available.
Your support will help make this crucial and urgent step possible. Any donation or share truly means more than I can express.
Thank you for standing with me.
