Field Trip to Storm King Art Center

I am an art teacher at P.S. 290 Juan Morel Campos in Brooklyn, NY. I started this campaign because I want to take the third grade classes on a trip in June to upstate New York, where they will go to Storm King Art Center.

If you are not aware, Storm King is an outdoor sculpture park in the Catskill mountains situated on 500 acres of beautiful land. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Many of our students have not been outside of the five boroughs, and this trip could really benefit them. Our school is Title I funded- 95% of our students come from "economically disadvantaged" households. This means that admission to Storm King is completely free, but we need to fund the transportation. This very hefty aspect will provide 2 charter buses to take 75 students and 10 chaperones on an all-day trip to the park and back. It's a whole lot of money that our school budget just can't support right now.
I am applying for whatever grants possible, but I have come up dry so far. I am really hoping to raise the money by the first week in May.
The reason I chose the third grade to go on this trip is simple- they are AMAZING students. They have been exceptionally inquistive, responsible, innovative leaders in my art classroom, and I am so proud of them. I love all of my students, of course, but this is one incredible group of kids. A day out of the city for nature, sculptures, picnics, and running around would not only be well-deserved, it really feels necessary for all of us.
Even if you can only give $1, the third graders would really appreciate it. The third grade artists will make an effort to give a card or artwork to every single donor!!
