Field revitalization-Culpeper Model Barnstormers

Hello,

My name is Jay and I am the Vice President of the Culpeper Model Barnstormers located here in beautiful Culpeper, Virginia. This year (after a reduction in support for maintenance from the county, and weather) we are making a strong effort to improve our RC flying field condition.

So far in 2023, we had a ditch dug on the east side of the runway to the road (right of the outhouse) to help improve drainage. On the west side, we re-shaped the swale for better drainage.

We have also put down 3000 lbs of lime this year. That amount is only half of the recommended amount from Virginia Tech after sampling the soil. Lime applications will bring the soil back to life.

We need to continue forward motion on this project so all of our members can enjoy a better experience when flying at the field.

We are a very small club and funding can be an issue for us. Club monies are based solely on membership fees. At this point, we have used up what we have in the bucket, which has stopped forward motion.

We could use your help. We need to put down another 3000 lbs of lime along with fertilization. Later in the year, we will lay down seed and pre-emergent (not necessarily in that order) to reduce or eliminate the weeds and fill in the bare spots.

For our small club, this is a big drain on finances and we can't do it without help.

Any amount you can afford will be greatly appreciated and put directly towards this project.
