A fundraiser organized by Community First Soccer
We are seeking your support in our club’s continued investment in the renovation of the grass fields at Kearse Park and Lighting Brook Park, to improve the field conditions for the use of our players and the community at large.
Kearse Park and Lightning Brook Park have been the home of Community First Soccer for the past 8 years; they have given us the space to keep our club local and affordable and to grow to the point that we have reached today. Over the years, we have built a culture focused on strengthening the bonds of family and community through a joyful soccer education experience. We recognize that the quality of the field is a vital factor in our goal of continuing to advance our soccer education and we are committed to renovating the fields at Kearse Park and Lightning Brook Parks to make them a source of pride for our club and the community.
What Are We Seeking To Do?
We are raising funds for the renovation of the grass field at Kearse Park and Lightning Brook Parks. We will be using the funds collected to accomplish the following tasks:
• Purchase 100 sq/yards + of topsoil to continue to level / grade the grass fields.
• Aerate, fertilize, and over-seed the fields (during the appropriate seasons).
• Purchase of field growth covers to use during the Winter months for off-season grass growth.
• Long-term infrastructure projects, including fencing, field drainage, training walls, and other infrastructure to enhance the safety and utility of the field.
How Much Are We Seeking To Raise?
PREVIOUS FUNDRAISING: Last year the cost of field renovations reached a total of $27,000; of which $12,000 was fund-raised, with the club covering the majority of the costs due to the fundraising short-fall.
CURRENT FUNDRAISING GOAL: This season, we are seeking to raise $20,000 of funds to cover the above-mentioned field renovation tasks.
This season to date we have already spent $4000 on dirt alone, with LOTS of sweat-equity put in from parents; THANK YOU to all our families who put in their time and energy to help the club!
These may sound like big numbers, but to put this into perspective, renting turf fields will cost the club more than $40,000 each season with no guarantee of training days, times, or location. Renovating our own field will allow CFS access to a high quality field year round at a fraction of the cost. Long term, this will give us the ability to invest in our own growth, to enhance the educational experience within the club.
