Fidel's fight to recovery

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Marissa and I am fundraising for my son, Fidel Gines Jr.
On Sunday July 31st, Fidel tore his left Achilles’ tendon while playing baseball. While at home that same night, he developed numbness on the right side of his body and had trouble speaking. He was taken to the hospital and it was determined that he suffered from a rather large left sided stroke. He was transferred to another hospital where they were able to remove 2 blood clots from his brain. Unfortunately, Fidel hasn’t regained any function on the right side of his body nor the ability to speak. He is surrounded by family in Neuro ICU in Louisiana, where he currently lives with his girlfriend Heather. After his brain has time to heal, we will then focus on surgery for his Achilles with the hopes that he will be able to walk again.

For those of you who know Fidel, he is a very outgoing and social person. With the lack of ability to get up and move or even have a conversation, the road to recovery will be very tough, physically & emotionally.

Our goal is to find a rehab facility near our home in Tampa where he can be close to us. Unfortunately, the cost for an ambulance ride will be approximately $10k and to fly him home around 20k plus rehabilitation costs. We would be grateful for any donation you can make to help us get Fidel home. We know times are tough financially for everyone. Even if you could only offer a prayer for Fidel, that would mean the world to us.

Fidel had no previous health issues and this is a huge shock to all of us.

Thank you for taking the time to read his story. We pray that God gives him the strength to recover from this tragic event. We trust our Lord!
