Fidelito’s Emergency Visit

Hey, my name is Yvette Estrada and I’m fundraising money for my 3 year old English Bulldog, Fidelito, who is currently at the Veterinary Emergency Group in Clifton, New Jersey. On October 11, 2021, Fidelito jumped off the bed in a rush when he heard his sister Gingo barking and hurt his leg. He was limping badly and I freaked out like I usually do when one of my dogs is hurt. My boyfriend’s sister informed me that she had some pills which could help Fidelito heal quickly and not to worry. She provided him with ibuprofen and naproxen on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday which is extremely intoxicating and poisonous to dogs and cats. I trusted her judgement at the time and didn’t think of googling the pills like I usually google everything they consume at the time due to being caught up in a family emergency. On Thursday, October 14, 2021, Fidelito started to vomit and his stool was as black as it can be. That night something told me to google the pills Fidelito had consumed, and that is when I discovered how badly these two pills are for dogs. I rushed him to the emergency hospital where they informed me he was beyond intoxicated and was bleeding internally. They told me he needed to stay there for 48 to 72 hours to clean out his system and be monitored. His kidneys were affected and he has become anemic. As of yesterday he was still vomiting and couldn’t control his bloody diarrhea. I am so mad at myself for not researching these pills like I usually do. My boyfriend’s sister didn’t know how intoxicating these pills were because she informed me she’s given them to her dogs in the past and they have been fine. Her intentions were purely to help fidelito feel better from his limping.

I hate to ask for help at this time because with this pandemic we are all going through something, and money is probably tight for all of us. I am beyond worried about Fidelito and I am not sure if he will be at the emergency hospital for 72 hours. The estimate they provided me was for 48 hours the night I took him in which was for the amount of $3,129. I have no idea how much the stay of 72 hours will cost. Again, I’m ashamed to ask for help at this time, but I can’t help the thought of doing whatever I have to do to save my Fidelito. Thank you in advance, and thank you to my bully bash group of friends who encouraged me to ask for help during a difficult time like this. Again, I’m sorry for bothering and appreciate whatever anyone could donate. I really do.
