Fidelina's Metastatic Battle for Survival
Donation protected
My mom Fidelina Ramirez was diagnosed with primary breast cancer in 2016 she went through treatment that whole year she had several chemotherapy sessions. That same year the surgeon had to perform a modified radical mastectomy. She then had radiation therapy and physical therapy after all of her treatment. By the beginning of 2018 she was declared a cancer survivor and the year of 2018 she finally had her life back and didn't have to worry about cancer she was just taking a chemo pill called (NERLYNX). This pill was supposedly supposed to prevent cancer from developing again. She was healthy and eating well and enjoyed all of 2018 with me her son and the rest of her family it was a great year for us.
That was until we got too December, she started having minor headaches by Christmas she felt weak but she was able to walk and had dinner with us but by the end of December her symptoms got worse she started having intense headaches and she was nauseous and vomiting she did have a wisdom tooth infection and we originally thought that the oral infection was the cause of pain. But after her wisdom teeth were removed her pain kept getting worse we ended taking her to 3 different hospitals and they found nothing she got discharged on the same nights we took her. Until we decided she was not getting better so we tried the 4th hospital that night it was determined that she had cancer in her brain(January 5th, 2019). The following weeks of January 2019 she was hospitalized and began treatment and was given a rare type of chemo called Intrathecal Chemotherapy injected directly into her spinal cord fluid. The second week of her being hospitalized it was determined her liver was not functioning properly and her eyes started becoming yellow this is called Jaundice. By the third week, it was determined her cancer was not brain cancer but Primary Metastatic Breast cancer which is categorized as stage 4 cancer. At this point, her cancer spread to not only her brain but her liver and was already affecting her kidneys. The oncologist told us chemotherapy was not working and there was no other form of treatment for her. And they offered hospice care. Me and my family didn't accept it and we wanted a second opinion. The hospital did not want to transfer her so I had to arrange a private transfer with an ambulance company and pay out of pocket we were able to transfer her to USC LAC medical center. At this point I had was very positive and optimistic and told my mom "They're gonna help you get better" she nodded at me she couldn't speak that well anymore and was sleeping most of that night of the transfer. She spent 3 days at USC medical center the doctors told us there was nothing they could do any more and the oncologist told me there was no medicine that could treat her advanced aggressive cancer the doctor told us she could pass away within hours to days they could not tell us an exact day but all we knew at this point is she had a little bit of time left. Yesterday, on February 1, 2019, at around 7:26 am her heart stopped beating she passed away right in front of me I couldn't stop shaking and got really nauseous and dizzy. I couldn't believe she was gone. She was an amazing woman and mother she's the strongest person I have ever met and we miss her so much. She fought so hard and battled her cancer with all her might but in the end, she could not win. We will always miss her I don't think I'll ever feel complete as a person without her in my life. I will always feel like a piece of me is gone but I will try my hardest to stay strong and remember the beautiful memories we had together. As a family we are asking for financial help we are currently setting up a funeral and need to transfer her beautiful body to the San Fernando Valley but don't have the funds to do so. Thank You for reading and I hope you have a great day and cherish your loved ones. Any kind of donation is welcomed big or small thank you so much If you cant donate for any reason dont worry about it the fact you read this far says a lot more than money ever could. Thank You so much have a blessed day
