Hi Folks,
My name is Wesley Hardisty from Fort Simpson NT. I'm a musician and composer, and I teach with the Kole Crook Fiddle Association.
I'm here to ask for your help and support.
- Instrument repairs
- New Five String Fiddle (Fiddola)
I perform and travel on a regular basis, and I usually consider the safety and protection of my fiddle (violin) while flying anywhere.
Recently, I travelled by plane, to Yellowknife for a performance of mine. Long story short, I had put my instrument underneath with luggage, and it was pushed and knocked around.
The same day, during my first rehearsal, I had discovered the finger board had fallen off due to the cold and harsh conditions, the sound post had fallen over, and the bridge had been warped.
I've talked with luthier Laura Wallace from Powell River BC, and she says the repairs will cost $100. This will mean a trip to the post office, for my fiddle to be expressed mailed, for repairs.
In the mean time, Laura has donated a fiddle for me to use, which has been shipped over to me (Thank you Laura!).
I would like consider purchasing a new Five String Fiddle (Fiddola), from Wallace Violins, to replace my 16 year old performing fiddle (once repaired)
A brand new Fiddola - $2600.
All together - $2700. This covers the repairs for my current fiddle, and the cost of a new Fiddola.
As a musician/composer/teacher I will be allowed to continue to perform, compose, and teach. During these difficult times, I'm grateful to be able to continue my practice as a performing artist.
Thank you again for your help and support. I appreciate you all.
Happy Holidays!
WH
