Allison's Defense Against Fibro Discrimination
Hello,
I'm fundraising for my sister who was pulled over for a questionable traffic maneuver in Newport Beach CA in 2019. Because of her unsteadiness from Fibromyalgia while walking a straight line during her road sobriety test and her Dr.'s prescription for her anti-anxiety meds, she was arrested, held for 6 hours and now faces legal fees for her defense.
Allison is an unselfish, kind to a fault, children's librarian from Utah who was visiting Disneyland with her Down's Syndrome sister Leslie and her elderly parents. We were all in shock that her simple traffic stop turned into a DUI arrest and are flabbergasted that the District Attorney's office has chosen to not dismiss the charge and to move forward with taking it to court.
Allison has NEVER taken a drink of alcohol and has never misused prescription drugs. She has a perfect driving record and only made the questionable traffic maneuver because she was unfamiliar with the area.
Allison was notified at the beginning of June that the DA's office was going ahead with the charge.
I ask for help because her public librarian's salary is quite small and she is struggling to come up with the legal fees for her defense.
We estimate that the cost of the lawyer will be $6,500. Any help is so appreciated.
