Fiberglass Contamination Displaced Our Family of 6

Our family of six was recently displaced after discovering our home was contaminated by airborne fiberglass from a defective product. The particles spread silently through our laundry, bedding, and furniture making it unsafe for us and our children, two of whom have asthma, to remain in the home

We tried to handle things through our renters insurance, but we were devastated to learn our policy has an exclusion for hazardous materials and particulate matter. No coverage. No housing support. And now, we’re on our own.

We are currently staying in a hotel, but that assistance ends tomorrow. Our priority is keeping our kids safe while we work to decontaminate what we can. We had to throw away contaminated mattresses, soft furnishings, bed linens, clothing, and our children's beloved stuffed animal collection.

Cleaning fiberglass is time consuming and difficult. The fibers embed into fabrics and precautions must be taken to avoid further spread. The proper equipment to safely remove particulate matter is essential.

My small business has to be paused to focus on cleanup and safety and my husband is on day 3 of unpaid leave to address this disaster. We have no other resources to help us at this time.
