Lauryn's Paralympic Goals

Donation protected
When people meet Lauryn DeLuca they often remark about how quiet and polite she is not knowing how fierce and accomplished she is in the sport of Wheelchair Fencing. Feeling like team sports were not her thing, at the age of 9 she started fencing at the local fencing club, Hooked On Fencing. At 13, due to her Cerebral Palsy, she was able to switch to wheelchair fencing. There she found success. At 14 she began competing on the international stage and at the age of 15 she was crowned National Champion in both Foil and Epee. Then at age 16, she had won the 2016 North American Championships in São Paulo, Brazil , paving the way to make the 2016 U.S. Rio de Janeiro Paralympic Team. At the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games, Lauryn was 17 years old, the youngest fencer to compete out of all the fencing events.

What happens at age 18? Fencing! Well, along with the stress of applying for college! Throughout her high school career, Lauryn made it her mission to be equally challenged in the classroom as well as the fencing strip. She has taken AP courses, Honors as well as college classes. She sits in the top 20 of her graduating class. Well liked by her peers, she was elected Class Secretary.

Fencing is an expensive sport that requires Lauryn to travel the world, representing the United States of America in far off places like Poland, The United Arab Emirates, and Canada in hopes of qualifying for the Paralympics. Most of the bills have landed on the desks of her parents. This is why we are on the platform GoFundMe.

Now that you know about Lauryn, please consider donating to this campaign to help her continue her international competition and her goal of making the 2020 U.S. Paralympic Team for the Tokyo Paralympic Games.

(While Lauryn is able to walk, she competes in her Red, White and Blue wheelchair. This recent photo was from the Virginia Beach January NAC where she won the Wheelchair Women's Foil event.)
