Sponsoring a well for my Dad in Kenya and community as a whole. My Dad, John is a 75-year-old man. He has been such a great influence to me and everyone in the community. I would like to honor him by building him a well, connected to a water pump. A widower for the past 6 years, John lives in a small village Naaro, 34 miles outside the capital city Nairobi. With no running water, he and all the other residents, are forced to walk over 4 miles to fetch water from a river which is not always clean.
The water project will involve digging a well 200 feet down into the ground, laying 2 sections of pipes and connecting them to a water pump. The first section of the pipes is underground and connects to the pump, which draws the water through the second section of pipes to an above ground water tank. This pump, powered by electricity, pushes the water into the tank.
Building this tank will ensure the villagers have clean drinking water, and drastically cut down the time and energy they spend walking for miles in search of water. The attached picture is a sample of the water system I would like to build.
On average the water project costs $6,000 depending on the depth of the well. These costs cover materials and labor, which will be purchased locally.
I am so grateful that you have chosen to support me make this dream a reality for my Dad and my people. Clean water means health, income and education for women, children and the elderly.
Every amount given is truly appreciated. No amount is too small. Thank you so much!!!
