Caring for Carolyn!

This gofundme has been established on behalf of the Wingeart Family:
Early in the morning hours on September 10th, Mrs. Carolyn Wingeart, sustained a small-vessel stroke in her basal ganglia, which immediately paralyzed the entire right side of her body, impairing her ability to stand, walk, or speak. At that time, she and her eldest daughter, Leah, were on a 2-week tour of Ireland, which was her lifetime dream and 70th birthday gift in 2017 from her children and grandchildren. The first night her tour group gathered together, she told these group members and tour guide emphatically, “This trip wasn’t on my bucket list, it IS my bucket list.”
She was immediately transported via ambulance to a public hospital in Galway, where she stayed for seven days. She was then medically transported with nurse escort to Johns Hopkins’ acute stroke unit, and most recently, continues her care at the inpatient neurological rehabilitation unit at Sinai Hospital. Suffice it to say that even with insurance coverage, medical costs are already exorbitant and continue to mount. Secondary insurance will not cover 100% and since this event occurred overseas, Medicare does not apply.
Carolyn is a devoted mother to Leah, Lauren, and Josh and grandmother (“Ahma”) to two sweet girls, with a third grandchild arriving in November. Ever since she lost her husband, Jerry, in 2004, she has been devoted not only to her family, but to her friends, her church family, and to the Hereford community at large. She is now reaching out with humble request to support her rehabilitation and treatment efforts with any contribution, no matter how large or small. She frequently describes herself as a “tough Irish woman” and is committed to an eventual 100% recovery.
