Colon Cancer! Help a friend!
Donation protected
This post is two fold:
1. I want to raise awareness for colon cancer.
2. I want to raise some money for my friend who is battling colon cancer.
As most people have heard, we should get screened for colon cancer when we turn 50. My friend Ken Horton just turned 50, but before he had time to schedule his screening, he went to the emergency room with abdominal pain. On December 19th, 2018, his life changed with 4 words.....”you have colon cancer”. Ken has no family history of colon cancer. Go get screened ASAP!
Ken is a single dad to two sons and even has a granddaughter that calls him “Pops”. Ken Horton is one of the nicest guys you will meet. He and I have been friends for 33 years and we have done life together. Ken is a hardworking guy and is fighting stage 3 colon cancer like only he knows how.....head on! Surgery was successful but the cancer had already spread to his lymph nodes so he started chemo and then will start radiation. Ken works full time but also has his own lawn maintenance business on the side. As grass cutting season approaches and medical bills start rolling in, he is already having a difficult time keeping up since he has had to miss work and may be too weak to maintain his lawn business. He has insurance but each chemo trip requires a $175 copay (more will be billed later) and he will have 12 treatments total ($2,100). Not sure how radiation will be covered yet. His hospital and surgeon bills have been trickling in and just so far, he has just over $4,000 from those alone. I am not sure if this will be enough, but I do know that this will take a tremendous burden off of him so he can concentrate on his treatment and healing. I am going to set the goal for $6,100 but praying that we will exceed this. Please prayerfully consider making a donation and also spreading the word so we can help Ken during this very trying time.
