Goal: Help River pay for her all-terrain Electric wheelchair
Twenty years ago at the age of 31, River became disabled from the progression of multiple sclerosis altering her life forever. River was a single mother of a seven-year-old daughter when she was struck down by a relapse from MS that left her riddled with pain and walking with a cane. Her physical world ended as she knew it. She was now trapped on a roller coaster of motion.
Overnight, River was cut off from the Woods. She was unable to walk on any uneven ground making it impossible to go hiking and foraging anymore. The woods were Rivers second home. A layer of her essence, part of her inner balance, the place she is renewed.
After twenty years she found a way to walk into the woods again.
A few words from River, “The all-terrain electric wheelchair has made it possible for me to travel into the woods by myself. I have to stick to wide trails, but I don’t have to stay on the road, and I don’t have to rely on another to push me. This vehicle can handle the bumps and uneven ground of the grass and wide paths through the woods. I have longed, ached for twenty years to enter the woods for a walk. Recently, I had an epiphany after an old friend passed: Money should not trump the needs of our soul if one can help it. I have been looking at the ideal vehicle to carry me into the woods for a year, but my insurance wouldn’t cover it and I did not have the money. But today things have changed with my credit. I decided to buy the chair, maxing out my credit card, I would figure out how I’d pay for it later. Life is too short. I was going to get to the woods. So that’s exactly what I did. I received the chair in the mail on a Monday and was in the woods the next day. It is everything I thought it would be and more. The biggest purchase I have ever made Worth every penny. My heart is singing.”

Over the years, Rivers mobility declined from a cane to a walker and now a wheel chair. She will use the chair in her every day life as well as allowing her to return to the woods she so dearly loves.

Thank you for your support.
