On Friday March 19, 2021, our family lost a pillar of warmth, humor, humbleness and dedication. Alexic's extended families have been in a grieving process of remembrance and reconnection to the memory of their beloved kin.
Alexic was born in Los Angeles in 1984 and spent his childhood years in the San Fernando Valley before the Northridge earthquake of 94'. His formative years were later spent alongside his siblings and parents in Fresno, CA, where both of his parents have worked diligently in various working-sectors including the auto-repair and domestic-worker service industries. Like his parents, Alex made Fresno his home and decided to establish a family of his own in the Central Valley alongside his high school sweetheart Ashley. Alex worked the majority of his adult life as a talented auto-body painter and devoted his life to his family (in Fresno, Los Angeles and El Salvador), his partner and his friends.
Alex is well-known in Fresno's underground rave and House scenes as JABS1. He gifted Fresno's rave community with his dance style in the crew Freestyle Funkshun. He took part as a dancer and organizer for the House crew, throwing independent groove sessions throughout the valley including the Sierra Foothills. We will remember his smooth foot-work, happy 'ape' dance as he liked to say for his wide arm width while spinning and playful freestyle battles among his beloved prim@s.
His dream as a child was to one day travel to his parents homeland of El Salvador. He accomplished this dream in 2015 alongside his life-partner, where he met for the first time many of his family members. He left his spirit imprinted in the tall volcanoes, Pacific coasts and the mangrove bays that his family had taught him to love and cherish as part of his own history.
Before the 2020 pandemic took effect, Alex and Ashley already had their first-born, also named Alexic. They decided to welcome in baby number two amidst the global crisis and in the warmth of a home of their own, surrounded by their families. Baby Aria was born in October of 2020.
As their families grieve the trauma of losing a beloved so dear, we ask that people who may have known him, consider donating to his direct family in this time. These funds will be distributed directly to his partner Ashley and their two children Alexic and Aria in ensuring their well-being in the coming months and years as he transitions on.
Alex was the primary bread-winner of the family and ensured time and time again that his loved ones were well and safe either economically, in health and good-spirits. He has been the social butterfly of our family that has left a deep hallow that will never be replaced. We ask for support for the future of his children and thank all those who have stood in solidarity, empathy and with respect to his family through this grieving process.
Our many thanks and best intentions.
