Prayers for Charlie Ray

Donativo protegido
Hello,

My name in Charlie Ray, and I am 7 years old. I am very sick in Scottish Rite Children’s hospital right now.  The doctors are saying I have Autoimmune Encephalitis. I don’t know anything about it except I feel really bad and my head hurts. I also can’t walk anymore and am confused because my brain is swollen. Apparently, this has now damaged my cerebellum. Right now, I’m not responding to the treatment, so I have a huge favor to ask. Can you please pray for me? I know prayers work because I’ve seen them work in my family. My mom and dad are so worried about me. I want to ask if you could just ask Jesus to make me better and pray for my family because it would mean the world to me.  To tell you the truth, just about everyone in my family is sick.  I think I am probably the sickest right now.  My dad has a bad disease called Dysautonomia (this is also an autoimmune disease), and he can’t work anymore because this disease attacked his colon and is still trying to attack other major organs in his body. My mom can’t work either because she now takes care of him and me. Now, they think my little sister, Peyton, could have this same disease.  She was supposed to start therapy three times this week, but she was unable to go because of how sick I am. Her therapy costs $95 each visit too plus they must travel far for each visit. Our insurance won’t pay for any of Peyton’s therapy. If her therapy doesn’t work, then she may end up with a bag also kind of like my dad for her to use the bathroom in. Also, my baby sister, Everlee, was recently diagnosed with Turner’s Syndrome. Our insurance won’t pay for any of her treatments either whenever she starts them. I wonder why we even have insurance?? My papa came to see me at the hospital a few weeks ago, but he got so upset when he saw me that he had a heart attack. His doctors said he wasn’t going to make it, but God had other plans. So, you see, I know prayers work. That’s why I need prayers and was hoping you could help me with that. I see my mom and dad crying when they don’t think I am looking, and I know they miss my big brother and little sisters while they are here at the hospital with me.  If you feel led to help us out with gas money and medical expenses, then I also thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know my parents are stressing about our money situation since my dad can’t work, we have terrible insurance, my sisters need that expensive therapy and treatments that insurance doesn’t pay for, and then there is me who is having to stay at Scottish Rite for I don’t know how long while I’m fighting for my life. So, I’m breaking all my mom’s “privacy” rules by having someone tell our story because no one knows it, and unfortunately this is just the tip of the iceberg. We need prayers. I need prayers. I don’t know the outcome for me and neither do the doctors. All I know is I don’t want my mom and dad to be sad anymore or have to worry about me. They love me so much, but as hard as this has been on me, I see how hard they are struggling while trying to hide it from me. Thank you for any donations but most of all…thank you for praying for me and my family. I am happy I know Jesus and that He has others to help when things are bad. I love you all and hope that this nice hospital and all these doctors coming in to see me can make me better.

Love, Charlie Ray Wilson

* This was written from Charlie Ray’s point of view. Many details were left out of this situation as it’s just too hard to put down in writing. Jenna and Michael can barely talk about it without getting so upset. They are having to shuffle their other three kids around between family members so they can be taken care of while they concentrate on Charlie Ray. The things this precious, little 7-year-old has said to his parents and doctors will absolutely break your heart. For example, he’s had dreams of his maw-maw, and he thinks she came to see him in his dream, so he won’t be scared if he has to leave this place on earth. He’s told his parents to let him know if he’s not going to make it. How do you have this conversation with your child?

So, I started this GoFundMe page for Jenna and Michael after begging them to let me help them somehow. When Jenna told me that Charlie Ray’s brain was swollen and cerebellum was damaged, I had a melt-down because I know what road they are about to go down. The doctors are treating this as a brain injury. As most of you know, my husband, Marty, has a brain injury and we just made it through our 14th “post-accident” anniversary. The thoughts of a 7-year-old experiencing such a similar injury absolutely breaks my heart. Once Jenna finally agreed to let me share with everyone some of what they are dealing with, then I acted quickly before she changed her mind. She was so hesitant to ask for donations, but she only agreed to this because I explained this is a great way to ask for prayers also. Let's at least help take some of the financial burden off them. I will never be able to emphasize how appreciative we were from the money that was raised for Marty and me after our accident, and I don’t know where we would be without your prayers. I believe 100% I would have been a widow and a single mother, if I didn’t lose Ethan too in the accident. Prayers work!

Autoimmune Encephalitis is life-threatening, and it’s apparent that Charlie Ray has had this for a very long time. He has been declining fast as of the last few weeks. Treatments aren’t working. So, please PRAY that the doctors can slow, if not stop, this process down. Once he gets out of this critical stage, which I believe he will get out with our prayers, then he has a very, long recovery ahead of him. This family is not one to ask for money, but they are asking for prayers. However, they also need financial help. If you don’t want to donate through the GoFundMe page, there are other ways to donate. You can send money by her parents or send it straight to her PayPal account (no fees this way).

I struggled on listing a goal for this GoFundMe page, so I’m going to give you an idea on how much some of the medical bills will cost, which is what helped me land on a goal of $10,000.

1) Charlie Ray’s treatments = many aren’t covered by insurance; costs are currently unknown
2) Peyton’s therapy = $95 x 3 days a week = $285 per week; She needs this therapy for at least 6 months, which will be a total of $7,410.00
3) Everlee’s treatments for Turners = currently unknown

Thank you in advance for prayers and any help you can give them.
