Jeremy Williams Family Fund
It is with deep regret that we must face the passing of our dear friend and colleague Jeremy Williams. Jeremy, an Alabaman father, husband, and musician, was killed after being involved in a motorcycle crash near his home. He was conscious and talking when he left the crash site, but his heart stopped while he was in surgery and he passed away at the hospital in the early hours on the morning of Saturday, August 17th, 2019.
Jeremy’s death was a shock to his family, and to the Birmingham-area community where he was well-known and respected. “He knew so many people,’’ Shandra said. “He was very loved.”
Jeremy grew up in Fairfield. After high school, he went on to play the tuba for Alabama State University’s Mighty Marching Hornets. He also played the French horn and the drums. After college, he began his career as an Information Technology Specialist. Jeremy joined the SpectrumVoIP family in 2018. Jeremy was an exceptional Field Technician who helped all of our customers feel valued and listened to. He was regarded as patient, knowledgeable, and courteous and he always went above and beyond in providing individualized attention to his clients regardless of whether the job was large or small. He continued to play music throughout his life and was a constant presence playing the drums at New Pilgrim Baptist Church and then several other area churches.
Jeremy and Shandra met when they were out with friends just under a decade ago. Their first date was to a Super Bowl Party, and he told her that night he was going to marry her. They married the following September and had a daughter, who Jeremy cherished. “She’s a daddy’s girl,’’ Shandra said of their 9-year-old. She wants the community to remember Jeremy for everything that he was, not only to his family but to all who knew him. “Everybody knows Jeremy was hilarious,’’ she said. “He was an amazing father and an amazing husband. He loved being around people and he loved life.”
We grieve for the loss his wife and daughter must now endure. Let us come together and organize assistance for his family in this difficult time.
