Help my uncle Carlos Fuentes recover..

This will be my last update. This weekend we laid Carlos to rest. After allowing the family time grieve and process the last month, we had a beautiful mass and celebration of life. I would like to express our sincerest gratitude for all your support and generosity. It has been truly amazing ti see this community come together and help my Aunt and Uncle’s family. It has not been or will be an easy road ahead but each one of you has helped tremendously snd we so appreciative! Thank you again for everything.

**UPDATE: Heaven has gained another Angel. Carlos has now joined his family up above.

10/14/23 With a broken heart, I am updating everyone that my Uncle suffered 4 cardiac arrest episodes over night. His organs are failing and he has suffered brain damage. They are doing everything they can to make his transition to gates if heaven pain free. Thank you for all your prayers and support during this difficult time. Please give my Aunt, Michael and Michele some time to process their emotions. I will keep everyone posted.

10/13/23 During this time of chaos in the world and sadness. I am happy to report my uncle is no longer intubated! Nurses called my aunt this morning on FaceTime with him. Slow and steady he is beating the odds in what we call “Beast Mode”. Please continue to share. Does not matter what God you believe in your prayers are working. Let us remember to not only pray for Carlos and his family, but for all the patients in the hospital, the doctors nurses and staff and all the innocent lives lost.

 1011/23 - Impella Machine was removed successfully. Unfortunately, that came with some setbacks. His lungs are not fully functioning, he had Mrsa, they are taking another culture for another virus they can’t seem determine yet, going in for another procedure today because the suspect his suffering from gallstones. While yesterday he was not following commands today he did. I have to leave Florida tomorrow with a broken heart. Please continue sharing with anyone who can find it in their heart to donate. 

Update:10/9/23-Carlos has officially been in the ICU a week. He is still fighting hard. Doctors are hoping to remove his Impella (pump inside a catheter with and electric motor that can deliver 2.5 liters of blood per minute to the body) today. Please continue sharing this link and praying for a speedy recovery.

Note from Tia Cary. Thank you all so much for taking the time to call, email, text, meals provided and these donations. While I feel embarrassed that we need help. It is amazing how generous and selfless this community has been. I don’t know how to thank you all for everything. From the bottom of my heart I thank everyone. You all are playing a part in Carlos’ recovery. He has many angels and you are all one of them.

Hi, my name is Marilyn, it is with a broken heart I am trying to raise funds for my Uncle Carlos and family. My uncle suffered a massive heart attack on Sunday, October 1, 2023, he is currently in the ICU with so many machines helping his heart pump blood and his lungs to get oxygen. Not only did he suffer this heart attack, complications occurred during his 7 hour surgery causing him to aspirate and have not only heart failure but hypercapnic respitory failure. Now he is suffering with pneumonia. We have no prognosis per the doctors he is the sickest most fragile patient in the hospital. We have to take it minute by minute. The prayers are felt by him, the family and all the wonderful surgeons, doctors and nurses attending to him.

Carlos and Tia Cary are high school sweethearts! In fact today 10/7/2023 marks 46 years he proposed. They have. been married over 40 years. They have never had an easy road since Michele was born with many health issues. He is the most amazing father, husband, son, uncle and friend to anyone the crosses paths with him. His entire life revolves around his family. His worry has always been not being able to provide for his family or be there for them.

Today at the hospital I told him if you can hear me, we need you to fight and not worry. We got this and we got you. Rest up and get stronger, I’ve got this under control and the people who love and care for you, are Tia Cary’s, Michael and Michele’s support system. I’d like to think he heard me because he moved his eyebrows. ❤️

I humbly ask to help ease his biggest worry. Please help anyway possible. Any little thing helps. If you know us you know this is rare to ask. He is private and never takes any help but would be the first to give you the shirt off his back. Your help will certainly make his transition home (whenever that is) a stress free time for him because he will not have to worry how diapers, food, necessities and medical bills were or will be paid.
