Carter's Road to Recovery

Hi - My name is Ned Cross. I truly appreciate you taking a moment to learn about my nephew, Carter Esarey's current health situation and the road to recovery ahead. On the morning of June 3rd, 2023, Carter was noticed in his bed, by his younger brother, to be in an unresponsive state due to what we now know is a viral infection that is impacting his brain. Due to the complexities of his condition, he is in the ICU until further notice. Carter is currently in stable condition and can respond to certain commands. However, with the inflammation on his brain, he is fighting to regain some of his cognitive and motor skills at times (i.e, slurred speech, staying awake, seizures, and difficulty moving the left side of his body). As his health condition changes, we will post updates on his status.

Over the past few days, we have been overwhelmed with support from family, friends, and the community. Thank you so much! For those that have been asking how they can help, your prayers for a successful recovery and strength for Drew, Cara, and family are much appreciated.

Without knowing what the needs for Carter and the family will be over the upcoming days/weeks, any donations will be used for meals, housing, therapy, medical equipment, etc., that will aid in Carter's recovery.
