Day 1: We saw this tiny puppy  run over and left for dead in the road.  The momma dog was crying on the side of the road, and the sweet puppy was scared to death. She let us pick her up and we immediately  took her to the emergency vet.(This happened Memorial Day weekend so no other vets were open.) Her legs were scraped down to the bone and broken. She was in pretty bad health as well.

**** We learned that all the other puppies in her litter died - either from starvation or by being hit by a car. The puppies were all just left in the yard and on the road. We know if we didn't drive by when we did, Lucky would have had the same fate.***

Day 2: She had surgery on her back legs and hips. She had three pins put in. The skin on her back leg was scraped off of the bone and it is a pretty bad wound. We are waiting to see if she has to have a skin graph or if we have to amputate her leg. 

Day 3 & 4: She is as sweet as can be and is making progress. She is eating well and didn't have any internal injuries. She is still in a lot of pain and is staying at the emergency vet to receive care.

Day 5: The "dead skin" on her back leg fell off on its own, so she didn't have to have surgery to have it removed. We had hoped it would reattach but the injury was too severe. The vets are taking great care of her and changing her bandage frequently. She also has a little PT throughout the day to help her retain movement in her back legs. Today she stood for a minute!!

We have paid $5,800 towards her care so far. We are really unsure what the total will be since she has to have skin graph surgery in a few weeks. We are so thankful for everyone that has shared her story and donated towards her emergency care. We are committed to this sweet puppy and know that she will have a healthy happy life thanks to the generosity of so many people. All of your donations and prayers for healing are greatly appreciated!
