As a family we are extremely proud of Ffion and her achievements.

Ffion has cerebral palsy and other disabilities including epilepsy but never lets anything stop her. Despite her cerebral palsy over the years Ffion has been able to do some running events, including Swansea 1K race raising money for Cerebral Palsy Cymru, however as she becomes older her muscles have become stiffer and she now relies on her wheelchair much more.

Ffion currently uses a NHS wheelchair which she has had for years. The wheelchair is heavy, clumpy and not very user friendly, especially as Ffion also has upper limb weakness.

Over the last 10 weeks Ffion has been taking part in wheelchair Basketball and Rugby sessions each week. She absolutely loves these sessions and it has highlighted how easy it is for her to wheel around in these active chairs especially compared to her own wheelchair.

We took Ffion to try a more active daily use chair this week and once she sat in it she fell in love with it and was wheeling around the shop at speed. She decided then and there she wanted it – in blue :D The chair is a Quickie QS5X and is an entry level active chair but it would do her for years.

There is currently over a 12 month wait for an NHS chair and they would replace her current chair with a similar one to her current one, not a more active one that would suite her best.

The cost of the chair is £2,115 and after a few people suggested we start a go fund me page here we are. Any contribution towards the wheelchair would be a huge help. Ffion told me yesterday that she was sorry that the wheelchair costs so much, which was heart breaking so I will do whatever I can to get her the wheelchair.
