On June 9, 2023, Brandon Robertson was admitted into the hospital after experiencing severe abdominal pain for several days. CT scans revealed his appendix had ruptured, and that his colon was perforated causing stomach contents and open air to leak into his body cavity. After several days of IV antibiotics to reduce the infection that was occurring, Brandon's medical team was anticipating good prognosis and allowed Brandon to start clear liquids and a switch to oral pain medication. Overnight, his white blood cell count shot up to 37,000 and he went septic.

Tuesday June 13, 2023 Brandon was rushed into emergency surgery in the middle of the night. During his surgical procedure, Brandon went into respiratory distress and had difficulty waking up from anesthesia. Currently Brandon is in ICU on a ventilator. His recovery is expected to be a long road. Doctors predict he will need long term acute care after leaving the ICU, 24 hour monitoring, diabetes and nutrition management, and wound care.

Brandon's wife is a Medical Assistant, providing care to many women in the general public. She is now the sole provider in the family. While her husband is in critical care, she still works daily to provide for their two sons and to support their household.

In an effort to ease the financial burden and emotional stress brought on by this unanticipated emergency situation, I ask you all to come together in support of this family. It's moments like these that we realize what is truly important.
