Help Bo walk again...

Well, here is the crazy update on Mr. Bo. I had him for about 10 days with Greta and me and he was doing well.. however, because of his size (huge) and weight (90) I realized I couldn't handle him. He is a bit of a puller on the leash, and if he saw a rabbit or squirrel, I'd be dragged behind him. I am completely in love with him; he's a fabulous dog.. but at 76 with arthritis, I had to be realistic. Luckily my friend Wes, a major dog lover with a big house, big property and two big dogs, also fell in love with him. So Bo is living with Wes and Tess and Mollie and having the life of Riley. We got a second opinion on his surgery from my vet hospital, and Dr. Woods, the vet surgeon, said to wait a little while for the surgery. So we are taking it one day at a time right now. The TPLO surgery is quite a big deal and Dr. Woods thinks it's better to wait until it gets worse... So he might be going into surgery by the end of the year. Bo is limping a little bit but doesn't seem to be in too much pain, which is good. So we still have the donations for his surgery and are holding it in escrow for him. The most important thing is that he's happy and in good hands and will be taken excellent care of for the rest of his life. He's a big boy and about 8 years old already... Thank you all for your support. I appreciate it very much and so does Mr. Bo. I Love you all and all the dogs too!!!
We took Bo to Dr. Woods, the vet surgeon at Junaluska Animal Hospital where I take my dogs...and he did a thorough exam on Bo and new Xrays ($560)
and said to wait to do the surgery until he gets worse... apparently the surgery is very invasive and the recovery period is 3 to 6 months and during the recovery he'll need to be carried around in a 'sling' to lift up his whole body.
Anyway, he will have surgery eventually, just not in August.
The original thing was that he was brought to a vet in Tennessee to be euthanized and that vet wouldn't do it. Somehow the Tennessee vet got in touch with a girl named Amy McIntosh and she and her wife started an animal rescue in Canton called Misfit Mountain. I was looking for a friend for Greta and came upon Bo and fell madly in love with him. I still am.. Anyway, Amy and her wife took Bo in and put him on a website for adoption. I saw him. Fell in love with him.. he's gorgeous.. Anyway
They brought him to a vet in Asheville called Open Door. Open Door suggested Western Carolina Vet Surgery in Arden... So I took him there for a consult. That vet, Dr. Crouch, looked at him for a moment, no new Xrays and said he would do the surgery in August. Many weeks away from the date of the visit.
I decided to get a second opinion from a vet that I have had for 11 years. My vet and Dr. Wood the surgeon both said to wait to do the surgery. So we put the money in escrow and we are taking it one day at a time.
Meanwhile, I had Bo for about 10 days and realized that at my age and physical condition that Bo was way too big and strong for me to handle. I walked him and realized that if he saw a rabbit, I'd be dragged along the road... My friend Wes, a big dog lover, fell in love with him also and has a big house, big property and two big dogs... so Bo is now living with Wes and has his pack... he's got a much better life than I could ever give him. And I go to see him at Wes's because I'm still attached to him. He's just a special dog.
Amy was aware of all of this and visited Wes's house and met Wes and the dogs etc. She was thrilled at the good outcome and very happy that Bo was in such a good place. Then...
So Amy knew I had raised the money for Bo's surgery and she asked me to give it to her because she has other animals that need surgery. I said I was keeping it for Bo because Bo hasn't had his surgery yet. I explained to her that we are keeping the money aside for the eventual surgery.. She accused me of being dishonest and said that the money belonged to her because she rescued Bo and that she was going to call an attorney. I was in shock. It was a complete reversal of who she had been in the beginning. And, just days before she was hugging me and Wes and so happy about Bo's situation.
Apparently she called GoFundMe and filed a complaint or something, because they contacted me and asked me to refund about $900, so I did that.
It's sort of been a nightmare with her. She sent me threatening texts... weird..
Anyway, the bottom line is that if anyone wants their money back, they can have it and the most important thing is that Bo is in a good place and happy and well taken care of.
