Coral & Brad's Fire Rebuild
Donation protected
Coral and Brad moved from Brisbane about 5 years ago and have made a beautiful, humble home for themselves in the lovely town of Stanthorpe. During the recent bushfires they were one of the unlucky ones in the town. On Friday, Brad was at a medical appointment in Brisbane and Coral was at home in Stanthorpe with their 5 cats and 2 dogs. Coral's neighbour raised an unhearly alarm with Coral on Friday afternoon, letting her know that she needed to evacuate her property due to the surrounding bushfires. Coral grabbed all the animals she could find, their tablets, some dog & cat food and left the house as instructed within 10 minutes, having to leave behind her beloved Muffin Cat. Muffin could not be found in time to get out safely. She thought that she was just going down to the shelter for about 90 minutes and she would be back. She called Brad and let him know what was going on at which point he high tailed it straight down to Stanthorpe to be with his wife in this very scary time. By the time he got there the whole town was in flames. There was smoke everywhere. 90 minutes passed and they were not yet allowed back home. They were told that there was one house lost on their street but were not told which house. They stayed in their cars that cold night without any blankets, pillows or warm clothes. The next morning, the devistating news came. Their home had been lost. The unimaginable dread ran through them as they came to the realisation that nobody wants to experience. It was gone. Everything was gone. Everything of theirs, everything thay have ever owned, every memory of their parents, her fathers war medals - Everything Gone! They were taken to see the land where their home was. You can see from the picture that they were not able to scalvenge through it for anything. Every single thing was ash.
With only the clothes on their backs, these two are now needing to build an entire new life from scratch.
The community have been absolutely wonderful and with time, things will get better, but for now, they have nothing apart from the wonderful support the community is providing.
I am setting up this go fund me page to help Brad and Coral through this tough time. The inbetween time. The time where you don't know what you need but you know you dont have it.
If you would like to donate to help them get the basic necessities that they need, please donate to this fund. The money will be a great help in getting back to a starting point for this couple.
We wish all the residents of Stanthorpe to be strong and brave through this tough time.
