Stranded in Spain After Three Strokes – Help Me Get Home
Donation protected
I am stuck in a hospital in Spain and have no way out. After three strokes, I can no longer walk or speak, my passport has expired, I no longer receive benefits, and my savings are gone. Without help, I have no way forward.
My name is Antony, I am 52 years old, and I am from the Netherlands. Eight months ago, I suffered my first stroke. My left side became weak, but I could still move. Then, six months ago, I had my second and third strokes, and everything changed.
Now, eight months later, I am still in a hospital in Spain. I cannot travel overland, and medical transport to the Netherlands is unaffordable. My passport has expired, which means I no longer receive any benefits. The only way to apply for a new passport is in Madrid, a four-hour drive from here, but without transportation, I am stuck.
And now the worst part: I can no longer afford physiotherapy or speech therapy. These treatments are essential for me to regain movement and speech, but they cost €30 per session – money I simply do not have. Without them, my condition will only get worse.
What I Desperately Need:
- Transport to the embassy in Madrid, so I can apply for a passport and regain access to benefits.
- Funds for physiotherapy and speech therapy, so I can continue my recovery.
- A car, so my wife can visit me and I can attend medical appointments.
- Transport to the Netherlands, to receive the care and support I need, where my children and family can help me with rehabilitation.
I urgently need help to rebuild my life. Any donation, big or small, makes a huge difference. Even sharing my story would mean the world to me.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!!
In a previous campaign, we already raised 220 euros. We created a new one because we received many questions about whether payment via iDEAL was also possible. With this campaign, it is now possible.
