Study Abroad

My name is Elizabeth Kittner, and I am a junior at the College of Wooster studying Political Science. This semester I am studying off campus in Washington DC with the Washington Semester Program at American University. I work at an internship two days per week, with the National Security Archive doing research on failures in leadership in the prevention of genocide.  I also am part of the International Law and Organizations Seminar (ILO), a seminar that will allow me to learn and explore how International laws affect countries and global decision-makers. This program features a travel component to Europe, where as a class we will visit Switzerland, France, Germany, The Netherlands, and Belgium. On this trip I will be learning about international organizations through visits to international courts, embassies, the UN and gaining understanding how international law and organizations work together. This area of study is closest to my heart. I see this arena as providing the greatest possibility for change, perhaps more than many theorists and politicians realize. Through research, policy and intentional international legal involvement, I believe we can work toward a more peaceful world.

Unfortunately, I do not have the financial resources to meet the costs involved. This term alone has cost twice as much as my typical tuition at the College of Wooster. The remaining expenses of travel have yet to be covered, which I have submitted to a payment plan option. There are also out-of-pocket expenses while in Europe, in addition to tuition for 2nd semester at Wooster when I return. I am requesting financial assistance for my trip to Europe. The cost of the travel component of my studies is $5,000.

I greatly appreciate any support that can be provided.
