At 10:49p on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, my parents house caught on fire. The dryer from a stackable laundry set in my Mother’s bathroom seems to be the culprit. With quick action from the neighbors, both my parents escaped the house with their pets safely.
Per my Dad, my Mom’s bedroom with all it’s contents and attached handicap accessible bathroom have been affected. The connecting rooms all have soot and smoke damage. My Dad said there was no way they could live in their home again anytime soon.
Less then a week ago, my parents were in MN at Mayo. My Mom was scheduled to have a hysterectomy to remove her uterine cancer. After arriving at the clinic the surgery had to be postponed due to a medication issue.
Both of my parents have extensive medical needs. My Mom can not walk. She has a wheelchair, kidney problems and cancer. My Dad, who takes care of her, has arthritis in his spine, diabetes that affects his balance and is constantly in AFib. Both have breathing problems.
Many of you know my parents because they were your teacher, your child’s teacher or you worked with them. Maybe you know their name from the years of work they did in the St. Charles community, arts community or with hospice. I know my parents have touched lots of people’s lives and have lots of friends that would love to help them. I also know my parents would never ask for help so I am.
