I married Lydia Doyle Qualls back in 1988. We have four wonderful children together. She has worked as a nurse her entire career and in doing so, she has taken care of countless people along the way with the utmost compassion for patients and families alike, no matter who they were.
In August of 2014, Lydia was diagnosed with terminal Stage 4 lung cancer that had spread to the brain. She fought through radiation and chemo last fall. Shortly after Thanksgiving, the Doctors had concluded that more treatment was necessary, but she would not be able to withstand any more at that time. More scans and another evaluation one month later, led them to the same conclusion.
She began a regiment of an alternative treatment at that time and the results have been astounding. The cancer in the brain has disappeared and the tumor in her lung has shrunk from 11cm to 3 cm! She needs to continue on that regiment but it is costly and we need to get her back on track with it. She has since retired and is on a fixed income and it has become necessary to reach out to family, friends and anyone else who would be willing to help her obtain this medicine.
She has helped people, even at great risk to her own well-being, her entire life. Now it's her turn.
