Help Mark on his road to recovery

Donation protected
On May 2, 2019, while working, our dad Mark Libby fell 40 feet from a 3rd story balcony overlooking a cliff. Once he realized how injured he was and that he wasn’t going to be able to move on his own thankfully he was able to reach his phone and call for help.  He was rushed to Dell Seton Hospital in downtown Austin due to them having a great trauma center.

At the hospital, he was found to have catastrophic injuries including a broken back in multiple places, severe compound fractures in both legs and ankles, a broken sternum and two very large lacerations on his head and his bum.

Since that date, he has had six major surgeries, a spinal fusion, a skin graft, a major infection (that is still being addressed) and has a very long road ahead of him. He was recently released from the hospital but may need further surgeries and hospitalizations in the near future.

He is currently confined to a wheelchair and will have to eventually re-learn to walk as at this time he cannot put any pressure on his legs.

As you may know, our dad makes his living as a self-employed handy man which does not come with benefits, disability or paid sick leave.  Additionally, he is the sole provider for himself and his wife, Liz.

To matters worse, he and Liz live in Texas while the rest of his family live in California.  We (Danielle and Alyssa) have both taken trips to Texas since the accident to help as much as we could and we both plan to make more trips in the coming weeks.

Due to all of this, his bills are starting to stack up. In addition to general life expenses there are many outstanding hospital bills.  He will also need further medical and rehabilitative care for the foreseeable future.

Our dad is not the kind of guy to ask for help, so as his daughters we are doing it for him.   We truly appreciate your good wishes, prayers and generosity during this unexpected time of need.  Even if you are unable contribute financially it would be very helpful if you could share his story.  Thank you.
