Hi, I'm Tyler: a Toronto-based performer and choreographer. I’m raising funds to create my first large-scale dance short film.
FEVER
Two months ago, Paige Foskett (Director & Producer) and I applied to the Innovative Dance Film Showcase, a premier event celebrating the intersection of dance and film.
Fever is a dance film about Spring.
It is messy, electric, unpredictable, and alive.
Think emergence, transformation, and the chaos of becoming. It’s that moment just before a breakthrough, when something is pushing its way up through the earth, not fully formed yet, a little unstable… but undeniable.
I’m playing with Springtime because that’s where I feel like I am right now as I step further into my work as a choreographer and creator. Uncovering the space between who I’ve been and who I am becoming.
Why This Project Matters to Me
I applied to the Innovative Dance Film Showcase to challenge myself.
Now that the work’s been accepted, I am feeling the weight of that challenge. It’s demanding that I step into a new level of creation.
We are working with a full team, composing original music, working step by step with a director to bring my choreography to the camera, and building something that lives beyond the stage.
This project is a turning point for me.
It’s a chance to:
• Challenge my creativity on a larger scale
• Collaborate with artists I deeply admire
• Create work that reflects my voice, my identity, and my perspective
• Build something that can open doors to future opportunities
The Team
• Tyler Pearse (Creator & Choreographer)
• Paige Foskett (Director, Producer) https://www.paigefoskett.com – after working together in theatre, she’s been someone I’ve been wanting to create with for a long time. Her work is bold, visceral, and deeply human, and I honestly couldn’t imagine a better partner for this.
• MIRAGE — Macayla Paris & Ben Duff (Original Score) https://www.mmmirage.ca – dreaming up an original score that is genuinely unreal. I’ve had a few sessions with them now, and I wish you could hear what they’re cooking up. It’s been mind-blowing. The music already feels alive in the exact way this piece needs.
• Brad Scholl (Director of Photography) https://www.bradscholldigital.com – bringing his unique cinematic eye and helping translate the movement into something intimate and expansive on screen.
Alongside a cast of dancers, consultants and assistants, this has become a full-scale creative feat that feels like the right people coming together at the right time.
Where & When
Fever will premiere at the Innovative Dance Film Showcase
Royal Theatre, Toronto
May 2
We are currently in development, with rehearsals underway and filming scheduled for mid-April.
How the Funds Will Be Used
Making a film like this comes with real costs, and I want to do it in a way that properly supports everyone involved.
Funds raised will go directly toward:
• Paying our team and dancers
• Film crew and equipment
• Studio rentals and rehearsal space
• Costumes, production design, and post-production
• Future festival submissions, assuring this film has a life beyond its premiere
Every contribution helps us create this work with care, intention, and the level of quality it deserves.
Thank you for considering supporting me and this film! If you have any further questions or have other ways in which you wish to contribute, please contact the email provided.
