FESTIVAL DEL JAGUAR 2025 - PERU & COLOMBIA

Leticia, Colombia from November 14th to 17th
Puerto Maldonado, Peru from November 25th to 29th

Help us bring to life the second Jaguar Festival in the heart of the Amazon, a celebration of art, Indigenous culture, and conservation. Together, let’s protect jaguars, preserve ancient traditions, and raise a new generation of environmental defenders.

What is the Jaguar Festival?

The Jaguar Festival is a grassroots, self-managed event blending art, science, and ancestral knowledge to raise awareness about the jaguar’s ecological and cultural importance, and to support the Indigenous peoples who live with and protect this iconic species.

This second edition will take place in two Amazonian regions where jaguars, and the indigenous communities they share territory with, are increasingly under threat:

  • Leticia, in the tri border region of Peru, Colombia & Brasil, from November 14th to 17th
  • Puerto Maldonado, in the tri border region of Peru, Brasil & Bolivia, from November 25th to 29th, culminating on the International Jaguar Day

Why Jaguars Matter?

The jaguar, the Amazon's only big cat, is more than a majestic predator. It is a sacred symbol in Indigenous cosmovision and a keystone species essential to the balance of the ecosystem.

But today, jaguars are under serious threat. Their habitat is being destroyed. Their bodies are trafficked on the black market. In the past few years, over 50% of Indigenous territories where jaguars roam have been fragmented by deforestation. Conflict and extinction are looming.

Artivism for Jaguar Conservation

We deeply believe that the fusion of art, culture, and science has the power to open minds and transform hearts. When these three forces come together, they create a space for dialogue, empathy, and action, a space where communities can reconnect with their roots, celebrate their identity, and take meaningful steps to protect their ancestral territories, wildlife, and future. Through this approach, we not only raise awareness, but also inspire a deep emotional bond between people and the natural world that sustains them.

Our Mission

Through immersive workshops and community-driven events, we aim to:

  • Revitalize ancestral cultures, cosmovision & Indigenous languages
  • Train young environmental leaders
  • Inspire deep connection and respect for nature in future generations
  • Promote harmonious coexistence between humans & jaguars
  • Build a strong network of jaguar defenders

Help us give a voice to the jaguar—and to the people who protect it.

This year, we want to bring the second edition of the Jaguar Festival to two key regions of the Amazon, where both jaguars and Indigenous communities are facing increasing threats to their lives and territories.

Some of the activities we will carry out include:

  • The first-ever dialogue space between Indigenous leaders, environmental authorities, and scientists to seek real solutions to land loss and jaguar killings in the Amazon.
  • An audiovisual storytelling lab, where young people and Indigenous elders will bring ancestral stories about their worldview and connection to the jaguar to the screen.
  • An intensive training workshop for young environmental leaders.
  • Indigenous language workshops in Tikuna, Bora, and Kukama-Kukamiria.
  • The first Jaguar Conservation Symposium in the Amazon.
  • The collaborative creation of three community murals reflecting the connection between culture, territory, and conservation.

Our first festival was completely self-funded, with a total cost of $10,060 USD. This year, we aim higher, bringing the festival to two Amazonian regions, and we need your support to fund:

  • Workshops and educational materials
  • Air and river transportation for facilitators, Indigenous leaders, and scientists
  • Meals for all participants
  • Scholarships for Indigenous youth
  • Media outreach and visibility to help the festival grow and reach more people

You can also support us by joining as a journalist, photographer, or filmmaker. If you're passionate about nature, Indigenous cultures, and art as a tool for change, this festival is yours too.

Donate, share, and join us. The jaguar, and the forest, will thank you.
