A community festival made by and for the people
ECHI is not just a music festival, it’s a collective act of creation.
Since 2018, we’ve been bringing classical and contemporary music out of theaters and into unexpected places around Arezzo (Italy).
We started with one simple idea:
A festival should exist only if people want it, support it, and make it together.
That’s how ECHI was born inside the youth center Onda d’Urto. No sponsors, no institutions behind us, only a group of young musicians and artists who believed that music must be for everyone, not a luxury for a few.
ECHI 2025: Our Most Ambitious Edition Yet
This year, we’re launching something truly special:
TWOSOME — The International Commissioning Project 2025,
in collaboration with the Bologna-based collective Istantanea.
For the first time, ECHI will move beyond Arezzo: to Bologna, inside the stunning Castello di Mongiorgio, for a spin-off edition dedicated to newly commissionoed international works.
We’ll commission emerging composers from around the world to write brand-new pieces for clarinet and cello, performed by Michele Fontana and Elide Sulsenti.
This is a huge step for us: from a grassroots community festival to a space that connects artists across borders, while staying true to our values of accessibility and independence.
