Jordan’s surgery and treatment

Donation protected
Hi my name is Jordan Hemond and I have been diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma, cancer of the lymphatic system. I started having symptoms like fevers and night sweats and a “bump”on my right groin all the way back in late September early October. I had to go to multiple doctors and two ER trips and TONS of tests, blood work, CT scans, everything, because no one could give me a solid answer. Everything was pointing towards an infection because of the “bump” which, at the time, was a swollen lymph node but some doctors thought it could be a hernia or a ruptured ovarian cyst! At first the ER doctors told me it was cat scratch fever, but, the second time I went, they recommended I get a biopsy because they couldn’t tell what was going on inside. A month goes by and I get booked for a biopsy on the whole lymph node on the right side of my groin. Tests came back and it’s looking pretty much like I have Hodgkin’s lymphoma. I immediately had to get an oncologist and he had me get more scans done, this time a PET scan instead of a CT scan and it confirmed I have stage 4 HL disease. It’s in my neck, abdomen, and groin area. I did have my port put in my chest as you can see in the picture, because its easier on the body to receive chemo rather than going through the veins in your arm. This cancer is highly curable and I’m very lucky to have this type but it’s still going to be hard to go through all of this at 20 years old. I had to take a break from my job at Starbucks and I’m taking a semester off from college so I can focus on getting better, which is amazing because as of right now I am currently in the process of harvesting my eggs and freezing them. My chemo treatments have a 30-40% chance of me never being able to have kids later in life. I am still shocked I have to do this at 20 but it makes me happy knowing I have a backup plan in place for when I’m ready to have kids in the future. Im supposed to be getting 12 rounds of chemo, 24 weeks, every 2 weeks for basically 6 months. I will for now have my chemo treatments done at Moffit in Tampa instead of my oncologist’s office at Morton Plant clearwater because they have a shortage on a chemo drug I need so, I am going to Moffit for now. My hair will fall out as one of the side effects from chemo but I think I can rock the bald look :) My fertility surgery was $5,600 plus the two ER trips was $2,000 and my bills from Moffitt for treatment are around $200 each treatment. That is why I’m trying to raise money. Thank you so much to my support system like my awesome parents and fantastic relatives and my amazing boyfriend and his wonderful family and of course all of my amazing friends. I wouldn’t be nearly as strong enough to fight this if it wasn’t for everyone’s help so thank you so much ❤️ here’s to kicking cancers butt 2022
