FERTILITY Finish Line!
Donation protected
We are so proud to have recently premiered our five year long project, Fertility, at Theatre Aquarius and Factory Theatre. This project was a huge success for our company. Audience members spoke of the show as, "Funny, moving, intense, raw, and deeply honest", shared "thank you for telling such important stories", and "Unbelievable. One of the best pieces of theatre I've ever seen."
Fertility is an original theatre piece about menstruation, miscarriage, abortion, infertility, post-partum depression, premature birth, trans identity, and menopause. By producing Fertility and sharing these stories further, we hope to continue to honour those who rarely see themselves represented on stage.
Fertility operated on a more than 70k budget, had generous grant and donor funding, and was led by a team of first time producers of a show of this scale and calibre. We were able to make this five year dream come to life on stage in two cities with an incredible group of artists all hired under an equity contract (a rarity for indie productions debuting a new play)!
While the grant funding was generous it was cumulatively 5k under what we had asked for. We knew it was important to follow through with this project and provide working opportunities for our artists as well as tell these stories. We are so close to the finish line of this incredible project and need help from amazing donors like you to make it there!
If the show impacted you, or you want to have another chance to see it, help make the show viable in the future by helping us raise the final $3,500 needed by June 9th.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
The Light Echo Theatre team (and several puppets)
Light Echo Theatre is a feminist Hamilton-based company that aims to share stories of Women, Queer, Trans, and Gender Non-Conforming folks. Our work is inherently intersectional, feminist-centric, deeply personal and unavoidably political. We pull from our lived experiences to create bravely vulnerable theatre, and know our power to create radical community engagement.
