Today has both been filled with tears and thankful prayers that Robert is no longer in pain and weakening day by day. For those of you that dont know Robert, he was one of the best respiratory therapists in California. This man was determined, he had a sharp mind, fought as hard he could to save his patients (which he almost always did), and loved the Lord through every battle and decision. For those that do remember him you know what kind of a heart he had and you saw the genuine happiness he would get out of good conversation with those around him. That brilliant mind was always at work and that quiet but deep heart showed us a love that was rooted in his love of the lord. There had been great struggle for a couple years for him to find a steady job and when he eventually did it took him away from us for about 6 months on two occasions but he made every effort to stay thankful for the situations God placed him in and he reminded us of that often. As the cancer began to grow he came home and was able to spend his last 7 months with us at home. He even said he was thankful for what God was doing with him a few days ago.  When replaying the last two days events we were able to see all the ways God showed his presence and His watch over us and we believe this was the most painless and merciful way for him to have gone home to God for both him and the rest of our family. Though it may have been unexpected for us all, the timing ensured his last moments were right next to family and unaware of the pain he had been experiencing for so long. So many are grieving right now but let's focus on rejoicing that he is in a glorious place happier than we could have ever made him ourselves. For now though, many of us want to gather and share the love we had for him. If you have the desire to do so in a more tangible way any kind of donation to his funeral expenses (he had no life insurance policy because of tight finances during the job search) or hospital bills would be beyond appreciated and help to ease some of the burden and worry in our family. If that is not an option for some all we ask is that you are generous with your prayers both for us and in thanking God for my father's salvation and new home in heaven. My name is Mike Maldonado, the creator of this campaign and I am from Southern California. I am the boyfriend of Robert's daughter Sierra. The campain money will be managed by Jim Manley, brother-in-law to Robert, on behalf of the family to be used to pay for Robert's medical bills and loss of his income for the family.
